What Is Flash?
Flash means downloading firmware to mobile and flashing means we are completely replacing our mobile operating system software and that means you can upgrade/downgrade to different versions of the operating system on your mobile device or switching to a brand new mobile operating system.

What's Needed to Flash a Samsung Device?

  1. First of all, you need to download the required firmware file according to your mobile operating system. If you want to know which firmware file is compatible with your device, you can learn here.
  2. Next, download and install the Samsung USB drivers on your computer (If you have already installed Samsung Kies or SideSync PC Suite, then you do not need to install Samsung drivers).
  3. Download and extract the Odin3 Flash Tool compressed file.
  4. Now launch Odin3 Flash Tool, and insert your firmware files in it.
  5. OK, now you need to boot your Samsung device into download mode and connect it to the computer system via USB data cable (Once you connect your device to the computer in download mode, an ID:COM number will appear in the Odin3 Flash tool, which means your mobile device has successfully connected the computer in the download mode.).
  6. The last step is to click the Start button in the Odin3 Flash tool to start the flashing process, and as soon as the flashing process is complete, you will see a "Pass!" message in Flash Tool and your device will automatically boot into normal mode after the flashing process is complete.
If your firmware file contains only one "AP or PDA" file, then you need to load this file in the AP section of the Odin3 Flash Tool. And if you have four or five files in your device's firmware file then load the bootloader file in the "BL" option, AP, or PDA file in the "AP" option, phone, CP file in CP option, CSC or CSC_Home in the CSC option and the user data file in the USERDATA.

What Is the Download Mode in Samsung Devices?
Samsung Download Mode is a firmware flashing mode that allows users to download firmware, combinations, or third-party edited files to their device, and this mode is also called odin mode.

Samsung Download Mode is not for general use, it is only for mobile technicians or software developers who use it to downgrade or upgrade the device's operating system.

If the average person tries to flash their Samsung device through download mode, users may break their device software or flash an incorrect file and cause their device to died. I suggest that if you have no knowledge of firmware or flashing, you should not try to flash files in this mode.

How to Boot Samsung Device in Download Mode?
There are six ways to boot your Samsung device into download mode. Samsung changes the way it boots in download mode depending on the generation of the mobile. That's why there are seven different ways to boot the only Samsung branded devices in flash mode.
  • Volume Up + Home + Power Button Method
  • Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button Method
  • Volume Down + Bixby + Power Button Method
  • Recovery Method
  • ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Method
  • Jig Method
So I explain them all one by one, I hope you understand it and like it as much as I imagine. So let's start the methods of booting the Samsung device into download mode.

1. Volume Up + Home + Power Button Method
This method works to get the old Samsung models of the 2017 series like Samsung S7 Edge, S6, S5, S4, S3, and Note 7, Note 5, Note 4, Note 3, etc. into download mode.
  • The first step is to turn off your mobile device completely.
  • Then press and hold Volume Down + Home + Power key simultaneously for a few seconds.
  • After that, a warning message will appear on the screen, pressing Volume Up to continue and Volume Down to restart. Press the Volume Up key to boot your device into download mode.
  • As soon as you press the volume up key, your device will boot into download mode.
2. Volume Up + Volume Down + Power Button Method
There are some models in the Samsung 2018 series that only boot into download mode with the volume keys and power button, such as the Samsung Galaxy A8 2018.
  • The first step is to turn off your mobile device completely.
  • Then press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power key simultaneously for a few seconds.
  • After that, a warning message will appear on the screen, pressing Volume Up to continue and Volume Down to restart. Press the Volume Up key to boot your device into download mode.
  • As soon as you press the volume up key, your device will boot into download mode.
3. Volume Down + Bixby + Power Button Method
Samsung's series in which the home button is replaced by the Bixby button. Those models are booted into download mode using the Bixby button, such as Samsung S9, Note 9, etc.
  • The first step is to turn off your mobile device completely.
  • Then press and hold Volume Down + Bixby + Power key simultaneously for a few seconds.
  • After that, a warning message will appear on the screen, pressing Volume Up to continue and Volume Down to restart. Press the Volume Up key to boot your device into download mode.
  • As soon as you press the volume up key, your device will boot into download mode.
4. Volume Up + Volume Down + USB Cable Method
Samsung's series in which Samsung merged the Bixby button with the power button. Those models boot into the download mode using a USB cable, such as the Samsung S20, Note 10, A90, etc.
  • The first step is to turn off your mobile device completely.
  • Then simultaneously press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down key and then insert the USB data cable. And the USB cable you connect to the mobile phone is connected to the computer or charger. And it has a mobile charger current.
  • After a few seconds, a warning message will appear on the screen, then release the volume keys and remove the USB data cable. And then press the Volume Up key.
  • As soon as you press the volume up key, your device will boot into download mode.
What happens in this way is that instead of the power button, we power the mobile with the USB cable and give the command of download mode to the mobile with the volume keys.

5. Recovery Method
Samsung's series in which Samsung merged the Bixby button with the power button. Some of these models boot into download mode using the recovery methods, such as Samsung A70, A50, A40, etc.
  • The first step is to turn off your mobile device completely.
  • Then press and hold Volume Up + Power key simultaneously for a few seconds.
  • After a few seconds, your device will boot into recovery mode.
  • Now go to the "Reboot to bootloader" option using the Volume Up and Volume Download keys and press the Power key.
  • As soon as you press the Power key, your device will boot into the download mode.
6. ADB (Android Debug Bridge) Method
If the volume keys of your Samsung device are not working or you are not able to boot your device into download mode due to some other problem. Then you have the option of ADB command to boot your Samsung device in download mode.

To boot your device into download mode using the ADB command method, you need to turn on the developer option on your Samsung device and download the required ADB command package files.

If you want to use the ADB command manually, then this is the command to boot Samsung mobile from ADB mode to download mode.
  • Install Samsung USB drivers on your computer, if you have already installed it, skip this step.
  • Then turn on your Samsung device ADB (Android Debug Bridge) developer options mode, and connect your device to the computer.
  • Then launch the file "ADB to Download Mode", as soon as you run this file, a command prompt will appear on the screen and it will automatically insert the bootloader ADB command in the command prompt. And then your device will boot into download mode.
If you want to use the ADB command manually, then this is the command "adb reboot bootloader" to boot Samsung device from ADB mode to download mode.

7. Jig (Joint Industry Guide) Method
The Samsung USB Jig (Joint Industry Guide) is a common circuit, which has a resistor (301K) and the points of this resistor are connected to the micro connector ID (identification) and a ground point.

If your Samsung device has a software break and the volume keys or power button are not working. So, then you have the option to boot your device into download mode using this jig.
  • First of all, you have to turn off the power of your Samsung device.
  • And then make sure that your Samsung device's battery is charged, or that the phone's battery has at least enough power to turn on your mobile phone.
  • After making sure, insert the USB jig into the charging area of your mobile, and in a few seconds, your device will boot into download mode.

There are different binary versions of each model number in the Samsung device software, as well as a unique way to find the correct firmware synchronized with the device. In this article, I will explain how to find the right firmware file for the Samsung devices.

We need to know some information from our mobile phone. It is imperative to know, such as the mobile model number, and binary number. Below is a list of information that we need to know before looking for a firmware file compatible with a Samsung device:
  • Model Number.
  • Binary Number.
  • CSC (Country Specific Code).
  • Date of Release and Revision.
How Do You Get the Required Information from Your Phone?
Open the dialpad application and type "*#1234#" on your phone's dialer. Once you dial the firmware version information code, you will get the AP, CP, and CSC file version info like below:

    What Is the Samsung Firmware File?
    A Samsung Firmware/Stock ROM is a formal software that the company develops to update the operating system of its specific device, And each device has different firmware according to the components of the mobile hardware.

    The Samsung firmware includes such different elements, all of which are essential for the phone software to work correctly.

    Name Abbreviation
    BL The abbreviation of the BL is Boot Loader.
    AP The abbreviation of the AP is Application Processor.
    CP The abbreviation of the CP is Core Processor.
    CSC The abbreviation of the CSC is Consumer Software Customization.
    PIT The abbreviation of the PIT is Partition Information Table.

    BL:

    The BL file is stands for Boot Loader file, and this file contains boot loader program data that initially runs on all unit processes when the device is turned on.

    AP:

    The AP file stands for Application Processor file, and this file represents the system partition (possibly it means Android partition). Under the previous Odin version, it was called "PDA" (Personal Digital Assistant).

    CP:

    The CP file stands for Core Processor file, and this file represents the modem. Under the previous Odin version, it was called "Phone" file.

    CSC:

    The CSC file stands for Consumer Software Customization file, and contains data on the features of the Android device according to its geographical (country) location, language, and network carrier.

    CSC_HOME:

    The CSC_HOME file contains data similar to the CSC file, but this file is slightly different. When the user flash the CSC file, it will wiped all of the user's data stored in the phone memory. If the user flash the CSC_HOME file, it does not wipe the mobile but keeps the user's data safe in the phone's memory.

    PIT:

    The PIT file stands for Partition Information Table file, And it contains the partition table layout information of all the files of the Android operating system. And this file is required only when the user upgrades or downgrades the device's operating system or if the firmware specifically requires it.

    What Is SPD (SpreadTrum)?
    SPD (Spreadtrum) is a processor chip developed by Unisoc, formerly Spreadtrum Communications, Inc. SPD chips are mostly used in Chinese mobile phones. And the names of some of these brands are QMobile, Alcatel, Infinity.

    What Is an FRP Unlock File?
    The FRP unlock file is a modified file and is only created to unlock FRP lock from mobile devices. This file contains only FRP lock partition information and is quite small in size. This file is created using the official firmware/Stock ROM file and Flash tool.

    What's Required to Create an FRP Unlock File?
    • Research Download - R4.0.0001
    • Official Firmware/Stock ROM (.PAC)

    How to Create SPD FRP Unlock File?
    1. First of all, you need to download the desired program from the link below, and the exact firmware file of the mobile device you want to create the FRP unlock file.

    2. Then extract the compressed file and place the program and firmware in the same folder.

    3. Right-click on the setup "ResearchDownload.exe" file of the program (Research Download - R4.0.0001) and run it in administrator mode.

    4. After launching the program, click the Load Packet gear icon button in the upper left corner of the Flash tool.

    5. Select the .PAC firmware file and click the Open button.

    If you backing up the device's firmware using the avenger's box tool, then you can extract the userdata.img file using the 7-zip program. And if you back up the firmware using the Miracle Box, the Miracle Box backs up the firmware file in userdata.bin format, and you can extract that file using the Ext2explore program.

    How to get/recover user data from the Broken Mediatek (MTK) device?
    1. Disables antivirus, Defender, and all other virus protection programs from your computer before starting the process. This is an important part of the process. If you do not do this, you may encounter a problem during the data recovery process.

    5. Once the firmware file is fully backed up, run the Ext2explore program in administrator mode and open the userdata.bin file in the program. As you open the file within the program, the path of this file will appear inside the Ext2explore program. Double click on the directory address of this file. Scroll down and find the media folder in this list and by double-clicking on it, drop down the list of folders inside the media folder, and right-click on the folder named 0 and click on save option, then, select path Windows will open instead. Find the path where you want to save the files and click the OK button.

    Tutorial Instal Custom ROM eXistenZ Pie Sony Xperia XZ Premium G8141 dan Xperia XZ Premium Dual G8142

    Custom ROM mereupakan sebuah rom yang telah di kostumisasi oleh seseorang atau kelompok yang biasa dikenal dengan developer. Kostumisasi pada custom rom sendiri termasuk modifikasi tampilan, fitur-fitur, kernel, dll.

    Pada kesempatan kali ini, kami akan membagikan tutorial bagaimana cara menginstal Custom ROM eXistenZ pie pada smartphone Sony Xperia XZ Premium dan Xperia XZ Premium Dual. Tutorial ini juga dapat di terapkan pada Sony Xperia XZ Premium AU dan XZ Premium Softbank, tapi wajib flash ke firmware global terlebih dahulu.

    eXistenZ sendiri merupakan salah satu custom rom legendaris yang hanya berada pada Sony Xperia. Rom ini menggunakan basis Stock firmware dari Xperia Sendiri lalu di tambah fitur-fitur oleh developer-nya.

    Siapkan dan download bahan-bahan dibawah ini.
    1. Siapkan PC dan USB Type-C
    2. Download minimal adb tools disini. setelah di download langsung di ekstrak di satu folder.
    3. Download TWRP XZ Premium disini. Setelah di download pindahkan file ke folder ekstrakan minimal adb tools tadi.
    4. Download Magisk disini dan kernel disini. Pindahkan ke penyimpanan internel, tetapi kami lebih menyarankan memnyimpannya di memori eksternal (microSD).
    5. Download kernel Xperia XZ Premium G8141 disini dan untuk yang dual disini
    6. Download ROM nya dibawah ini, sesuaikan dengan nomor bentukan atau build number Xperia teman-teman.

    Tutorial Instalasi Cutom ROM eXistenZ Pie Sony Xperia XZ Premium G8141 dan G8142


    Pastikan Sony Xperia XZ Premium berada pada firmware terbaru yaitu android pie dengan nomor bentukan 47.2.A.10.107. Jika teman-teman tidak bisa mau update ke firmware terbaru, teman-teman bisa download instal saja nanti sesuai build numbernya. Tapi wajib android pie. Jika belum android pie silahkan flash terlebih dahulu dengan new flasher. Untuk tutorial teman-teman bisa cek disini.
    cara cek build number, buka pengaturan>system>about phone scroll ke bawah nnti ada build number-nya.

    Setelah Xperia berhasil di flash, maka saat nya kita melakukan unlock bootloader. Sebelum melakukan unlock bootloader, pastikan Xperia bisa di unlock bootloader nya. Cara mengeceknya, dial pada Xperia *#*#7378423#*#*. Pilih opsi service info lalu configuration. Silahkan lihat Rooting status apakah YES atau NO. Jika YES silahkan unlock bootloader, tutorial unlock bootloader cek disini. Jika NO berarti tidak bisa di unlock. Jangan panik dulu, silahkan cek penyebabnya, sudah kami posting disini. Jangan lupa untuk mengaktifkan USB Debugging dan OEM Unlock sebelum meng-unlock bootloader. Caranya, masuk ke pengaturan>sytem>about phone>tap 7x pada build number. Developer option akan aktif. KEmali lagi ke pengaturan>system>developer option>aktifkan OEM Unlocking dan USB debungging.

    Jika sudah berhasil unlock bootloader, nyalakan Xperia. USB debugging akan mati karena direset. maka aktifkan kembali. Sekarang kita akan menginstal custom recovery TWRP.
    1. Buka ekstrakan minimal adb tools tadi.
    2. Tahan Shift lalu klik kanan, pilih "open command window here" maka jendela cmd akan terbuka.
    3. Hubungkan Xperia ke PC dengan kabel USB sambil menahan volume atas.
    4. masukkan perintah berikut pada cmd,
    fastboot devices
    perintah tersebut untuk mengecek apakah perangkat sudah terhubung, jika sudah akan muncul fastboot dengan serial numbernya.
    5. masukkan lagi perintah,
    fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
    perintah tersebut untuk menginstal TWRP.
    5. Setelah terinstal lepas USB, lalu tahan tombol volume bawah+power untuk masuk ke TWRP.
    6. Pada TWRP, pilih instal ZIP. lalu pilih Custom ROM eXistenZ Pie tadi. lalu swipe untuk menginstal. Tunggu sejenak sampai selesai.
    7. Setelah selesai, pilih instal zip lagi. Pilih Kernel yang telah didownload tadi. lalu swipe seperti tadi untuk menginstalnya.
    Mengapa kita harus menginstal kernel? Karena di eXistenZ ini double tap to wake belum bisa berfungsi, oleh karena itu kita perlu menginstal kernel lagi.
    8. Pilih instal zip lagi, lalu instal magisk seperti cara tadi juga.
    9. Jika sudah selesai, silahkan reboot Xperia. Booting pertama agak lama jadi maklum saja.

    Jika setelah flashing teman-teman mengalami bootloop, jangan buru-buru melakukan flashing ulang. Silahkan matikan paksa Xperia dengan cara menekan tombol volume atas dan power, lalu dengan cepat tekan volume bawah agar masuk ke TWRP. Jika tidak masuk ke TWRP, Flash ulang lagi TWRP dengan cara diatas. Lalu silahkan ulangi langkah-langkah diatas lagi, pastikan juga teman-teman menginstal ROM sesuai dengan build number atau nomor bentukan Xperia.
